Lost Farm, the second course at Barnbougle, is on schedule and coming along nicely. 11 of the 20 holes have been planted, the rest in various stages of construction. Of the remaining holes, 3 are par 3’s. The general feeling amongst everyone is that we are on the downhill slide of this one - most of the big holes are behind us. It is winter here in the southern hemisphere but the moderate temperatures associated with this coastal Tasmanian climate allow for seed germination. We should have mature plants on all of the holes by the onset of warmer weather and spring grow-in efforts.
The site is unique, with as much variety in contour and landscape as we have ever worked with. The golf holes reflect this. The scale of the surrounds in combination with the winds, have resulted in some very big golf holes. It will be interesting to see how many acres of managed turf we end up with. Holes measuring close to 100 meters in width are not uncommon.
Opening is scheduled for spring (October) of 2010.

Great News Guys this will make a great addition to to the already great Australian course. ny chance of a overhead pic or design layout to see where it sits with the origonal course!

When you play Barny Dunes - you can see some of the Lost Farm holes over the creek (where the little jetty is).

Agreed. You can see it from the jetty on the 15th hole and the higher par 3 16th tee box. Looks fantastic.

ReplyDeleteCant wait for Lost Farm to open. I have played Barnbougle 4 times in the last 12 months, and every time i go up there seems to be a little more done. Then when i was up there a couple of weeks ago,talking to Brett Partridge,club pro at Barnbougle he said everything was ready, but were waiting to see how the course would hold together over winter.
